CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH FOR UNIVERSITY 

A total of 20 UUMIT staff attended "Conversational English for University Front Liners & Executives" programme at CoPED Seminar room, School of Computing, UUM CAS recently. This interactive course was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hisham Dzakiria. The objective of this course is to enhance their skills and self-confidence in communicating. The participants were exposed to various tasks and language games in order to generate interest in English communication. Reading material such as Reader's Digest, watching English language shows, finding 1 English word a day are some approaches that could help participants to communicate effectively. Senior Assistant Registrar of UUMIT, Mr. Budiman Sobri B Abdullah, was also presented for the event.

NPL BASIC PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME

Sintok, March 28, 2017- Executive Education & Professional Development (EEPD) has organized NLP Basic Practitioner Certificate Programme for 6 days beginning 25th to 30th March 2017 at Kachi Training Centre, Kachi Mall, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

The objectives of the programme are to identify personal patterns of excellence, consolidate and develop a model to be merged into a single wide and dynamic 'technology of success' with NLP techniques. This NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Programme has been handled by Tuan Haji Mohd Fairus Abd. Majid (Certified NLP Practitioner) and assisted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hisham Dzakiria as an intern in the program.

A FAREWELL FOR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

SINTOK, March 15, 2017: A farewell dinner was held to celebrate the industrial training students of Universitas Komputer (UNIKOM) Indonesia.Two UNIKOM students enrolled in AHSGS EEPD Unit on 19th February 2017 for their one month industrial training in Universiti Utara Malaysia. According to Brian Nugroho, he was thrilled with the beauty of UUM campus. He acquired a lot of knowledge and experiences throughout his training here and he hopes to be able to practise them in UNIKOM soon. Monica Novianty, another UNIKOM student said, "The time flies so fast. I wish I could spend more time here in UUM.” She also mentioned that the relationship among EEPD staff is like a family that made her felt comfortable and happy throughout the industrial training in EEPD. A token of appreciation was presented by the Director of EEPD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hisham Dzakiria as remembrance to the students.

EEPD STAFF EXPLORE THE SINTOK FOREST

SINTOK, 1 March: A total of 4 staff and 7 practicum students of Executive Education & Professional Development (EEPD) have recently explored and witnessed the beauty of Sintok Forest at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The exploration aimed at bridging the fraternity among EEPD staff as well as revealing the uniqueness of UUM to the students of Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) who are having their industrial training in EEPD. According to one of the students, Monica, such activity is very beneficial and useful as she is able to explore, experience and appreciate the beauty of flora and fauna in UUM which could be a treasured memory after returning to Indonesia. The program began with a walk from Awang Had Salleh to the Sintok Forest Campsite at 8.30 a.m. It was then continued with the exploration to the surrounding of Sintok Forest and ended at the Tetrameles Nudiflora (Pokok Tiga Beradik).

JKM STAFF CONVERGING FOR TWO WEEKS IN UUM

UUM, Sintok: A total of 37 participants from Welfare Department of Malaysia (JKM) is participating the Social Work Practise Executive Certificate Programme (SPEC) 2017 at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) which is being held from 5 to 18 March 2017.

SPEC Programme aims to help in improving the skills and self-confidence of participants in carrying out many daily tasks that directly involved with the intervention process. Participants will be awarded the Executive Certificate in a special ceremony after the completion of the two weeks course. According to one of the participants from PKMB Kinta, Mr Mohamad Afindi Bin Md Rashid, he hopes to gain and learn a lot of new input to be practiced in his workplace.

"Besides that, this course would indirectly help me in terms of the security of the prisoners and the buildings," he said. This programme is organised by Executive Education & Professional Development (EEPD), Awang Had Salleh Graduate School in collaboration with the School of Applied Psychology, Social Work & Policy (SAPSP), UUM CAS.
